I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all. Ecclesiastes 9:11 (NIV)
These past few weeks I’ve been feeling down because there were so many things I wanted to do; needed to do, but I felt like I was behind in. Previous to that, there were so many things I was doing that when the time came for me to take a break, I really took a break (lool 🙈); a longer break than I was expecting.
But in feeling sad about myself, and in feeling like I wasn’t doing enough, I was reminded via a message during Sunday service that again, life is a marathon not a sprint. Everything in life is a marathon. Education doesn’t happen in a day, fame isn’t gotten overnight and even if it was, to sustain it won’t happen in a day. There’s nothing that we want/want to achieve that can be done in a day; but by persevering, by moving forward, we’ll be able to gain some ground little by little. And one day, we’ll be able to look back and we’ll be astonished by the progress we’ve made.
So, if you’re feeling like you’re going too slow, like you haven’t achieved much, be encouraged… the race is not to the swift. You’re still on your race, and you too will get there in your own time. Your time and chance will soon come so, be prepared for it.
