Direction

Direction – the position towards which someone or something moves.1

Have you ever wanted to go somewhere, to achieve something but everytime you tried; you felt lost? You didn’t know:
a) Where to go
b) How to get there

Ecclesiastes 10:15 (NKJV) says:
The labor of fools wearies them, For they do not even know how to go to the city!

As I’ve pondered on this verse, I realised that this described me. How many times have I wanted to go somewhere, do something; but didn’t know how to go about it? The fool is wearied because he knows he needs to get a gain for his labour but he doesn’t know how to get to the place where he can turn his labour into gain.

If he was a farmer, he would know that he needs to get to the market to sell his goods but how sad would it be for him to know he needs to get to the market; but not know the way.

I know for so many of us, this is us. There is so much we want to do, and become. But we get tired, so tired, because we’re trying but even as we try, we don’t seem to be getting closer to where we want to be (our ‘city’). But in this, I’m reminded and encouraged that wisdom comes from God.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
James 1:5 (NIV)

By this I’m encouraged knowing that, although I don’t know how to get to where I need, I can ask God for wisdom on how to get there. And He’ll give it to me!

So be encouraged, the road is long and tedious but as we look up to God and include him in our plans and ask for His wisdom and guidance, He’ll definitely lead us and give us the wisdom we need to get to where we’re going and need to be.

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.
Proverbs 16:3 (NIV)
